PCR tubes have thin walls that cannot withstand high centrifugal forces and therefore cannot be used for normal centrifugation operations. Plastic pcr tubes are also usually made of a transparent material to make it easier to observe color changes during the reaction and to judge the progress of the reaction, and are often fitted with a screw cap to prevent evaporation or contamination of the liquid.
