How to use funnel

1. Fold the filter paper in half twice in a row to form a 90° central angle shape.
2. Place the stacked filter paper in three layers on one side and open one layer on the other side to form a funnel shape.
3. Put the funnel-shaped filter paper into the funnel. The edge of the filter paper should be lower than the edge of the funnel. Pour some water into the mouth of the funnel so that the soaked filter paper is close to the inner wall of the funnel. Then pour out the remaining water and set aside for use.
4. Place the funnel with the filter paper on a funnel stand for filtration (such as a ring on an iron stand), place a beaker or test tube to receive the filtrate under the funnel neck, and place the tip of the funnel neck against the wall of the receiving container. Prevent liquid splashing.
5. When injecting liquid that needs to be filtered into the funnel, hold the liquid beaker in your right hand and the glass rod in your left hand. The lower end of the glass rod is close to the three-layer filter paper. The mouth of the beaker is close to the glass rod. The liquid to be filtered flows out along the mouth of the cup and then along the glass. The rod flows smoothly into the funnel. Note that the liquid level flowing into the funnel cannot exceed the height of the filter paper.
6. When the liquid passes through the filter paper and flows down the funnel neck, check whether the liquid flows down the cup wall and reaches the bottom of the cup. If not, you should move the beaker or rotate the funnel so that the tip of the funnel is firmly attached to the wall of the beaker, so that the liquid can flow down the wall of the beaker.
