Methods of using the plantar blood collection needle
1,Blood collection before the card name and the newborn wristband will be checked again to avoid errors.
2,Operators wash their hands, the newborn takes the head-high-feet-low position, massage or hot compresses on the heel of the newborn.
3,Use 75% alcohol cotton balls or cotton swabs to disinfect the blood collection site, wait for the natural evaporation of alcohol or use sterile cotton balls to wipe away excess alcohol before starting blood collection.
4,Use a disposable blood collection needle to pierce the selected part of the heel to a depth of less than 3mm, as the first drop of blood contains body fluids or skin fragments, it should be swabbed with a sterile cotton ball, and then the second drop of blood should be taken.
5,Squeeze the eye of the needle within a wide range from the eye of the needle (not allowed to squeeze and rub the eye of the needle), and then relax to form a large enough drop of blood, the filter paper sheet will be contacted with the drop of blood (do not contact the surrounding skin), so that the blood naturally penetrates into the back of the filter paper, a total of 3 blood points, the required diameter of the blood point of 1cm, it is prohibited to dip the blood in a circle repeatedly several times.
6,After blood collection, use the sterilised cotton ball to stop bleeding by lightly pressing the blood collection site.
